I would like to start off by saying Thank you to all the help I have had this year. Dan has been my right hand man, and many of the youth leaders have been there each and every week. You all are AWESOME and I appreciate EVERYTHING you do for our program!!
Youth Ministry does NOT meet back until January 8th! So we are skipping sessions on December 25th and January 1st. I want everyone to have a great Christmas and new years and for everyone to remember this season is a time to think about Jesus' second coming, by remembering the first time he came to earth!
Merry Christmas!!

What to do with all this Christmas hype...
First, I hope everyone had a GREAT Thanksgiving holiday, and if you were brave enough to venture out on Black Friday, I hope you didn't have to fight too many people for what you wanted...We start session again this week (December 4th) at the regular meeting times.
PARENTS : December 18th will be our Christmas parties for each group...We will be taking turns baking cookies and having a party, so I will really need some extra parents on hand to help out...and obviously, you can help taste test the cookies :)
YOUTH: The first week of Advent has started. To me (as much as I LOVE it), the warm weather is making it hard to believe we are almost at the end of November...and all the commercials and ads on tv really make it hard to think about the true meaning of Christmas. I know you are making Christmas lists, decorating, thinking about what you are going to give to friends and families, and getting ready for Christmas parties..which is all fun...but we need to try to remember what this season is REALLY about...and that is Jesus' Birthday. Just think, what if in 2012 your parents forgot your birthday. I'm sure normally you celebrate with some decorations, a nice dinner, maybe some gifts, etc. But what if this year no one mentioned it the week of your birthday, no one talked about it or decorated or was excited about it...What if on your actual birthday there were NO decorations, NO cake, NO presents, NO hype about your day...wouldn't you feel a little sad? A little hurt...? Like.."Hey! EXCUSE me family it's my birthday! The day I came into this world and made all your lives better?!... " What if your family said, "oh, we have just been so busy with other things...we just forgot..oops..sorry..we will try to remember next year..." You might not be too happy... So think about how Jesus might feel when we forget his birthday. We put gifts, decorations and parties above the time we spend giving, praying, and thinking about the Gift that Jesus really is to us.
So try to take a few minutes every day and just think about what you can do this season to celebrate Jesus' birthday. He loves you to do things like helping others- why not donate something to the Joseph House, or put a little extra in the collection basket at mass. Or even help a sibling with something they are struggling with..like math homework instead of playing Call of Duty all night..Don't forget, just like you want to be celebrated on your birthday..we too need to celebrate Jesus on His. :)
